I was a member of the Culture Media and Sport Select Committee until 2005.
I was appointed Chair of the Administration Committee in 2005.
Human Rights and International Affairs are also of great interest to me, in particular in Chile, Colombia, East Timor and India.
Education is one of my major interests and I am regularly invited to meet with pupils following courses in Aberdeen schools and colleges. I actively support education projects and student placement programmes in my constituency and in Westminster. I have also taken part in a local education project enabling teachers to 'shadow' an MP in Westminster. |
